About this Speaker

Over 35 years ago, Ron Mizutani began his career telling news stories about Hawaiʻi and its people. Today, his career has come full circle, returning to storytelling, as the President and Chief Executive Officer of PBS Hawaiʻi. Under his guidance and vision, Ron is focused on expanding PBS Hawaiʻi's rich history of storytelling, deepening the station's digital presence, fostering innovation and increasing viewership across all generations.

A thoughtful and respected leader, caring for the greater good and serving the community has been the bedrock of every position he has served in.

Prior to joining PBS Hawaiʻi, Ron was President and Chief Executive Officer of Hawaiʻi Foodbank for three years. There, through challenging times, and the world's most challenging one – the COVID-19 pandemic – he led the organization in distributing over 19 million pounds of food to individuals and families facing hunger.

Before serving in the nonprofit sector, Ron enjoyed a 33-year career at KHON2 where he obtained experience in all facets of television, serving as an award-winning reporter, producer and news anchor.

His career highlights also include serving as Hawaiian Telcom's Vice President of Corporate Communications and as Senior Vice President at Communications Pacific. He is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa.

Ron is a proud father of three and grandfather of one.
