Unyong’s responsibilities include the Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain areas at Y. Hata & Co., Limited. As an Operations Integrator, she is a member of the executive team charged with the overall strategic direction for growth and efficiency for the 107-year old and still family-owned company.
Prior to joining Y. Hata Co., Ltd., she led the Advancement Program for the Shidler College of Business for over 10 years. During her tenure, she built a world-class program from the ground up encompassing alumni relations, principal gifts, stewardship, volunteer management, strategic events, as well as campaigns for study abroad, entrepreneurship, and capital improvements.
Unyong’s greatest strengths are her creativity, drive, and leadership. She thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand the organization’s reach and impact.
Unyong has been recognized by the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii as the “Young Professional of the Year,” by Pacific Business News for “Women Who Mean Business” and “Forty Under 40,” by the AFP – Aloha Chapter as the “Outstanding Professional Fundraiser of the Year,” and by Hawaii Business Magazine as one of the “20 for the next 20.” Unyong is proud to serve on the boards of the Domestic Violence Action Center, Hawaii Restaurant Association, and the Patsy T. Mink Center for Business and Leadership.
Unyong holds a bachelor of science in Microbiology and a master in business administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
